Events are periods of 6 to 12 days where players earn event points and event badges for completing a live. These event points are used to unlock stories and the event badges are used as a currency to buy items in the Event Exchange Shop. In addition, each event is accompanied by a new story and a new gacha. Each event has a set of characters and an attribute that determine which cards contribute towards a party's event bonus. This event bonus increases the number of points and badges earned after each live. After the event ends, a new Virtual Live may be available. The day after the event ends at 11:00 JST, ranking rewards will be given out.

List of events[edit | edit source]

Types of events[edit | edit source]

Currently, there are three types of events in Project SEKAI: Marathon, Cheerful Carnival, and World Link. Marathon was introduced on October 9th, 2020 with the first event of the game, Stella After the Rain. Cheerful Carnival was introduced on April 1st, 2021 with Singing With You in a World Where Cherry Blossoms Dance. Cheerful Carnival events always occur at the end or at the beginning of each month. World Link was introduced after the 3rd anniversary with Searching for a Reflection Beneath the Waters, and was advertised as events where the Sekais will experience changes due to the characters' growth in the story.

Marathon[edit | edit source]

Revival my dream, a marathon event

In marathon events, players can play Solo, Multi, and Challenge Live like usual. After finishing these lives, players earn event points and badges based on their score, the song length, and their party's event bonus.

Cheerful Carnival[edit | edit source]

My Footprints, Your Destination, a cheerful carnival event

In this event type, two groups compete against each other to see who has the most points at the end. Cheerful Carnival introduces Cheerful Live, which temporarily replaces multi live, as a way for teams of 5 players to compete against each other. In each match, the winning team gains 2 points while the losing team gains 1 point. Sometimes, although rarely, a special match may appear. These special matches multiply the points earned by x10 or by x100 for both teams. This means that the winning team will earn 20 or 200 points while the losing team will earn 10 or 100 points, respectively.

A cheerful carnival event is divided into three sections: first midterm, second midterm, and final. After each midterm concludes, the leading and trailing groups are announced. Members of leading group are given 3 small live bonus drinks while members of the trailing group only get 2 small live bonus drinks. After the final announcement, members of the winning group get 200 crystals, while members of the losing group get 150 crystals.

To participate, players pick one of two groups. Players have the option to switch to the other group before the first midterm result is announced. Note that this can be done only once. After selecting a group, players head to the Cheerful Live game mode, where teams compete between against the other. After two teams are matched together, the system picks a random song, and players play the rhythm game as normal. Before the results screen, one one team of 5 is declared the winner of the match.

World Link[edit | edit source]

This is a special event type introduced during the 3rd anniversary livestream for the game. Each unit is set to receive one World Link event by September 2024. The events are advertised as "stories where you will witness new 'possibilities' in the SEKAI due to 'change of feelings' within the characters."

Each World Link event has "Chapters", which each have their own story, ranking, and event shop. After the final Chapter, some changes may happen to the SEKAI. Ranking in World Link is split into two parts: Chapter Ranking and Overall Ranking. The Chapter Ranking is calculated only during the featured chapter's period, and awards special titles for the Top 1-100 players. The Overall Ranking is calculated in the same way as past events. In addition, the Event Shop is also split into two parts: Chapter Exchange and General Exchange. In the Chapter Exchange, you can earn Chapter Badges from each chapter and exchange them for special items during that chapter. In the General Exchange, you will be able to convert Chapter Badges to General Badges and purchase items.

World Link also features special limited cards for each member that can only be pulled on gachas for that unit's events. When World Link limited members are raised to Mastery Rank 2, a special "Solo Cut Footage" will be unlocked. When the World Link member is placed on the team and the song the member is tied to is played, you will be able to see the member's special solo cut-in for the song's 3DMV.

The World Link for each group is as follows:

Event bonus[edit | edit source]

Each event has characters and an attribute that will contribute to a party's event bonus. The event bonus increases the event point and badge gain after each live. Thus, cards of bonus characters and attributes should be prioritized over cards with higher rarity. While it is recommended to get as much bonus as possible, it is worth losing ~30% bonus in order to get into the veteran room. Since the game started, there have been 3 version of how event bonuses was calculated.

Version 1[edit | edit source]

At first, each card that matched a character or the attribute provided a +20% event bonus. However, if the card matches both a character and the attribute, it provided +50% event bonus. This resulted in a maximum event bonus of +250%. Note that VIRTUAL SINGER's support unit must match exactly. For example, the KAMIKOU FESTIVAL! event had Wonderlands×Showtime KAITO as a bonus character. In order to get the +20% character bonus, a card with Wonderlands×Showtime KAITO must be used, any other unit's KAITO card would not contribute to the event bonus. The last event that used this event bonus calculation was Mirage of lights.

Version 2[edit | edit source]

Starting with the Scramble Fan FESTA! event, the bonus calculation was changed to where a card that matches a bonus character or bonus attribute now provides +25% event bonus. Matching both provides +50% like before. However, the cards that are introduced in the gacha associated with the event give +70% rather than the normal +50%. VIRTUAL SINGER cards with a support unit still follow the same rules: Wonderlands×Showtime KAITO still requires a Wonderlands×Showtime KAITO card. VIRTUAL SINGER cards without a support unit now provide a +15% event bonus regardless of the support unit. Using the same example as before, if Wonderlands×Showtime KAITO is a bonus character, a KAITO card with no support unit would provide +15%.

Cards with master ranks now provide a slight event bonus, depending on the rarity of the card.

Event story[edit | edit source]

Each event is released with a story that is related to the characters that provide bonus in the event. During the event, chapters are unlocked based on event point milestones. Reading these chapters gives 2 song cards and 50 crystals.[story 1] After the event ends, these stories can be found in the side stories menu.

Originally, only 1 song card was given per chapter read. Starting with the Wishing for Your Happiness Upon the Blue Sky! event, this was changed to the current value, 2. On June 20, 2022, previously read chapters retroactively granted players an additional song card, for a maximum of 528. These song cards were claimable in the Present Box. After the 3rd anniversary, the rewards for the final chapter were increased to 100 crystals and 50 fragments of feelings.

Event Exchange Shop[edit | edit source]

Guiding a Lost Child to What Lies Beyond's shop

The Event Exchange Shop contains new 3☆ and 2☆ cards, non-farmable materials (such as crystals or intermediate skill up scores), and farmable materials (such as coins or miracle gems). These 3☆ and 2☆ cards are exclusively available during this event, and will always be a card of a bonus character. The attribute of these cards will not necessarily match the attribute that provides a bonus.

After Live[edit | edit source]

Most events have After Lives, which are Virtual Lives with characters featured during the event. After watching the after live, players are gifted 300 crystals and a stamp. Players who missed the After Live or wish to re-watch the after live may do so in stories. Players who watch the After Live for the first time after missing the original times will receive the stamp but not the crystals.
