We are able to celebrate our 2nd anniversary thanks to all of you who support Project SEKAI on a daily basis. The entire development team would like to thank you for your support.

We will continue to make every effort to make Project SEKAI more enjoyable in the future; thank you for your continued support.

The "v2.3.0" update, which will be released just before the 2nd Anniversary, will include a major overhaul of Character Ranks, the implementation of the new "Character Archive" feature, reduction in app size, as well as a full live bonus notification. We will also be making many adjustments to the balance of various content.

Regarding "Character Ranks and Character Missions Adjustments", additional information has been added in each section regarding the character EXP that can be earned.[update 1]

Character Rank and Character Missions Adjustments[edit | edit source]

While "Character Rank" should be an indicator how much you have devoted to a particular character in the game, some stats, such as the acquisition of cards and Another Vocals, were not tied to Character Rank.

Therefore, we are adding the following new Character Missions.

Character Mission additions[edit | edit source]

Mission Maximum times EXP
Collect a certain number of [character]'s cards 60 +2 EXP (all stages)
Collect a certain number of [character]'s Another Vocals 15 +1 EXP (all stages)
Level up [character]'s area item a certain number of times 75 (Hatsune Miku)
15 (everyone else)
+1 EXP (all stages)
Level up [unit]'s area item a certain number of times 75 (VIRTUAL SINGER)
15 (other units)
+1 EXP (all stages)
Level up [attribute] area item a certain number of times 150 +1 EXP (all stages)

Character Mission adjustments[edit | edit source]

"Skill level" and "Master Rank" missions will be divided into two types:

  • 1☆, 2☆, 3☆
  • Birthday (BD), anniversary (AN), 4☆
Mission Type Maximum times EXP Notes
Level up the skill of [character] a certain number of times BD/AN/4☆ 90 +1 EXP (under 30 times)
+2 EXP (over 32 times)
After reaching 30 times, EXP is granted every 2 times (as opposed to 1)
1☆/2☆/3☆ 110 +1 EXP (all times) After reaching 40 times, EXP is granted every 2 times
After reaching 60 times, EXP is granted every 3 times
After reaching 90 times, EXP is granted every 4 times
Level up the Master Rank of [character] a certain number of times BD/AN/4☆ 140 +1 EXP (under 30 times)
+2 EXP (over 32 times)
After reaching 20 times, EXP is granted every 2 times
1☆/2☆/3☆ 140 +1 EXP (all times) After reaching 60 times, EXP is granted every 2 times
After reaching 70 times, EXP is granted every 4 times
After reaching 120 times, EXP is granted every 5 time

* Regarding the "skill level" and "Master Rank" 1☆, 2☆, and 3☆ cards.
The amount of character EXP that can be obtained at the maximum level (skill level: 45 times, Master Rank level: 75 times) will be reduced by up to 3 and 9, respectively. However, adjustments to the character missions system allows you to earn more character EXP overall, despite the reduction in possible EXP from leveling up skill levels and Master Ranks.

Character Mission achievement condition and maximum level adjustments[edit | edit source]

Achievement requirements for the following character missions will be relaxed. In addition, the maximum level of all character missions will be increased across the board.

Character Rank EXP will be recalculated at the same time that maintenance is conducted. As a result, Character Rank EXP/rank will be increased from the current level. In addition, the maximum rank will be increased to 100.

Along with the introduction of the new "Character Archive" feature described below, the UI of the character mission details, progress, and rewards will be drastically changed.

* After the update, the values of Character Rank EXP/rank will be automatically recalculated. The rewards for the increase in ranks will result in a combination of direct rewards like a title, stamp, increase in Challenge Live slots, etc., or rewards sent as a gift through the Present Box. The date and time of the compensation may vary from player to player.

Character Archive[edit | edit source]

A new feature, "Character Archive", will be added to allow you to view character related content in one place. At the same time, we have made the relationship between this feature and Character Rank simple: filling up the Character Archive increases your Character Rank.

The Character Archive will also display unacquired content, allowing you to check the status of various content acquisitions. We hope you will make use of this feature to collect various content.

The content that can be viewed in the Character Archive as follows:

  1. Cards who are available for training are displayed separately (before and after training).
  2. Illustrations of cards who have been acquired can be viewed in full size.
  3. Some cards which are limited to collaborations or are currently unavailable will only appear in the list if they are acquired. These cards will be added to the list once they become available in the future.
  4. Area conversations that are only available for a limited time (collaborations, seasonal, April Fool's Day, etc.) will not appear in the list, regardless of their acquisition status.
  5. Character missions other than the 5 main ones can be viewed here.

In addition, "Character Profiles" which were previously displayed in the menu of the "Member TOP" screen, will be viewable from the Character Archive.

Mirror Mode[edit | edit source]

"Mirror mode" is one of the requests we've received for the rhythm game, so we've added a new mode that allows you to play charts flipped horizontally. We believe that you will enjoy this feature, as it is different from the normal chart, so please try it.

The default setting for this feature is "OFF", so you will need to go into [オプション (Options)] > [ライブ (Live)] > [ライブ設定 (Live Settings)] > [ミラー譜面 (Mirror Mode)] to enable this feature.

App size reduction[edit | edit source]

Project SEKAI has a system that reduces the number of times data downloads are needed when playing by saving various data such as songs, MVs, and illustrations. However, this has caused the size of the app to be bloated. In order to solve this problem, we will add an optional function that limits the amount of MV data that can be stored.

In detail, for each 3DMV, 2DMV, and original MV, you can apply 5 levels of storage settings:

  • No storage
  • 10 songs
  • 30 songs
  • 50 songs
  • All songs

These are available through [オプション (Options)] > [システム (System)] > [(データ管理) Data Management] > [MVデータ (MV Data)].

In addition, we will also change the data management method of the app so that some data that is used infrequently will be deleted from the application after a certain period of time has passed. The first time data will be deleted is when you log into the app after updating it. Therefore, please note that it might take some time to log in.

*Re-downloading is required when using unsaved MVs or data. Please carefully check the communication environment you are using before playing.

Improved character motion during Virtual Lives[edit | edit source]

We have improved character motions such as having the characters face each other while talking as well as adding blinking to make characters look more natural. The characters' movements have also been altered to look more natural. The blinking update has been applied to all Virtual Live performances, however, the orientations of the characters' faces will only apply to Virtual Lives released after the game's 2nd Anniversary.

Live bonus notification[edit | edit source]

As requested by many players in the "#Proseka Opinion Box", there will be a new function that notifies players when their live bonus is fully recovered. This function is set to "ON" by default and can be changed by changing the option in [オプション (Options)] > [システム (System)] > [ライブボーナス全回復通知 (Live Bonus Full Recovery Notification)].

Additional Kizuna Rank combinations[edit | edit source]

A total of 43 Kizuna Rank combinations will be added. Please note that these additions will be added around the end of October.

Kizuna Rank combinations will be added sequentially in the future according to the stories and relationships between characters. In addition, Kizuna EXP will not be accumulated in advance even if you play a live with a specific combination before the Kizuna Rank for that combination is released.

Sekai-specific VIRTUAL SINGERs in Kizuna Rank titles[edit | edit source]

For Kizuna Ranks between an original character and a virtual singer, it will be possible to switch between the default virtual singer and the Sekai-specific variant of that virtual singer. This means that Ichika can be paired with Leo/need Miku instead of default Miku.

When setting titles in the profile, the desired display can be set at [称号表示確認 (Title Display Confirmation)] > [キャラクター配置選択 (Select Character)].

Sekai-specific VIRTUAL SINGER stamps in Stamp Shop[edit | edit source]

Stamps of virtual singers from each Sekai will be added to the Stamp Shop. These additions are scheduled to made at midnight on September 30. Virtual singers that have not yet appeared in a Sekai will not have a corresponding stamp in the Stamp Shop.

Player Rank limit increase[edit | edit source]

Since a year has passed since the last time that maximum Player Rank has been increased, the maximum will be changed from 400 to 500. Rewards for reaching new ranks after 400 are the same as the rewards for reaching new ranks after 300.

Friends limit increase[edit | edit source]

The maximum number of friends will be increased from 100 to 200.

Title limit increase[edit | edit source]

The following titles will have their maximum limits increased.

  • Kaiden: FULL COMBO the MASTER difficulty of a certain number of songs (Ranks 11-20)
    • 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180, 190, 200, 210, 220 songs
  • True Kaiden: ALL PERFECT the MASTER difficulty of a certain number of songs (Ranks 11-20)
    • 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180, 190, 200, 210, 220 songs

Adjustment of "SUPER FEVER" and live rewards[edit | edit source]

We are making adjustments to live rewards to address the issues of "SUPER FEVER" reported in Project Message vol.13. As a result of this adjustment, the live rewards for Multi and Cheerful Live will be the same as the expected live rewards for achieving "SUPER FEVER", regardless of whether "SUPER FEVER" has been achieved or not.

The rewards for achieving "SUPER FEVER" have been adjusted to that only coins and practice score (beginner) will drop. The rewards for Multi and Cheerful Live for rare items such as miracle gems or mysterious seeds has been increased to the same value as when "SUPER FEVER" is achieved currently.

Adjustment of the effect value of the "Music Speaker" area items[edit | edit source]

Until now, the effect of the VIRTUAL SINGER area items has been lower than other units, and was balanced at release. Now the effect of these area items will be doubled to be on par with the other unit area items.

Before the adjustment, the total power of virtual singer cards were increased by 1.5% (at level 15) for each area item. After the adjustment, the total power of virtual singer cards will be increased by 3% (at level 15) for each area item.

Addition and adjustment of exchange items[edit | edit source]

Currently, there is an imbalance of items; almost all players lack fragments of feelings while having a surplus of virtual coins. Therefore we will add and adjust the contents of the Event Exchange Shop and Kakera Exchange Shop to balance the two items.

Adjustment of regular and Premium Mission Pass rewards[edit | edit source]

In accordance with the adjustment of overall balance in the amount of items, we will also adjust the contents of the reward tiers for the Regular Mission Pass and Premium Mission Pass. These changes will be reflected in October's mission passes. Before, the rewards for live missions were given in smaller amounts, but from now on, reward tiers will be changed so that players will be rewarded with more items when they reach a certain Live P.

Regular Mission Pass adjustments[edit | edit source]

The adjustments to this mission pass will be: increase the quantity of some items, add wish drops, and remove song cards.

The total amount of items earned when reaching the maximum Live P (8,000) will be:

The items that are not listed above will remain unchanged from before.

Premium Mission Pass adjustments[edit | edit source]

The adjustments to this mission pass will be: remove virtual coins and add fragments of feelings.

The total amount of items earned when reaching the maximum Live P (8,000 P) will be:

  • Crystals ×6,800 (5,000 from Live P rewards and 1,800 from purchase rewards)
  • Fragments of feelings ×1,000 (700 from Live P rewards and 300 from purchase rewards)

The 1,800 crystals from purchasing the pass are considered paid crystals. The total amount of crystals from the Premium Mission Pass will remain unchanged before and after the adjustment.

Unit EXP earned per live increase[edit | edit source]

In v2.0.0, we will significantly increase the amount of EXP earned in live games to make unlocking the Main Story easier. The amount of EXP will be increased by approximately by 1.75x.

Permanent sale of historically limited costumes[edit | edit source]

Various live costumes that were previously sold for a limited time in the Crystal Shop will be added as a permanent item. Each costume set will be sold for 3000 paid crystals. These costumes will be added on September 30 at midnight.

The following costumes will be added to the Crystal Shop permanently:

  • Premium Mission Pass costumes that are at least 2 years old
  • Seasonal live costumes (Halloween, Christmas, New Year's) that are at least 1 year old
  • Anniversary costumes that were available through Premium Present Gachas and are at least 1 year old

However, some costumes, such as collaboration costumes, may not be added to the Crystal Shop. In addition, costumes already owned by players are not available for purchase. Variants of costumes will also not be sold separately. The period of time needed for Premium Mission Pass costumes to be added permanently may changed in the future.

Permanent sale of Virtual Live Shop items[edit | edit source]

Since over a year has passed since their first appearances in the game, all Character Costume full-set avatars will be sold in the Virtual Live Shop permanently. These costumes are scheduled to be added on September 30 at 15:00 JST. In addition, seasonal time-limited items will be added to the shop permanently after a certain period of time; we will announce the timing of when each item is added as an in-game announcement.

Other improvements and adjustments[edit | edit source]

During the "free-viewing" period of a Connect Live, players that have already purchased a ticket can watch the free portion of the live without using their ticket. There are also other minor improvements and modifications to performances.

Bug fixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed a bug in Rank Match where penalties were not applied under certain conditions.
  • Fixed a bug in Rank Match where the "Rank UP!" effect would be displayed when rank is decreased.
  • Fixed a bug in "Adjust settings with preview" where there is a delay between when the note is judged and when the note is hit.
  • Fixed a bug where character EXP and mission progress was incorrectly displayed under certain conditions
    • At a later date, we are planning to fix 4 missions: side story 1, side story 2, stamps, and area conversations.
    • We will issue an in-game announcement as soon as the investigation is complete and we have a plan to address the issue.
  • Fixed a bug where the appearance of the higher and lower ranks of titles was different from expected.
  • Fixed other minor bugs
