ああ。まず主人公は引っ込み思案な少女で、
春休みも読書をして過ごそうと思っていた

だが、少女の両親は
もうすぐ生まれる新しい家族のために
いろいろ準備をしなければいけなくなってしまう

田舎で暮らしている親戚のおじさん夫婦に
預けられることになるんだ

けれど、おじさん夫婦の家に田舎という不慣れな環境——
話し相手になってくれる同年代の子供もいなくて、
少女は寂しさを募らせていく

She tries to return on her own to her home where her beloved parents live..

そして寂しさに耐え切れなくなった少女は
大好きな両親がいる家に自力で帰ろうとする

On the way, I found myself under a cherry tree on the mountain behind my relative's house.
I meet a mysterious girl, Some-chan, who is about the same age as me.

その途中、親戚の家の裏山にある桜の木の下で、
同じ歳くらいの不思議な少女ソメちゃんと出会うんだ

Maybe it's because the cherry blossom trees are Somei Yoshino?

ソメちゃん……。
ひょっとして、桜の木がソメイヨシノだから、とか？

Actually, Some-chan is a cherry blossom spirit.

桜の花びらを浮かせて桜吹雪なんかもできてしまう

そんな不思議なソメちゃんと、
少女はだんだん仲良くなっていくんだ

少女はだんだんおじさん夫婦にも心を開いていくんだ

ところが、山菜を採りに行ったおじさんが
夕方になっても帰ってこない、という事件が起きる

She feels responsible and tries to find her uncle herself.

少女は、自分が『またあの山菜を食べたい』と言ったからだと
責任を感じて、自分でもおじさんを探そうとするんだ

Because it's difficult. As expected, the girl gets lost.

だが、夜の山を子供がひとりで人を探すなんて
困難だからな。案の定、少女は迷子になってしまう

Then, Some-chan, the cherry blossom spirit, appears.

心細くて泣きだしてしまう少女。
そこに、桜の精であるソメちゃんが現れる

そしてソメちゃんは、行方不明のおじさんを探すために、
山一帯にいる同じソメイヨシノ——
自分のきょうだい達に呼びかけるんだ

どこか悲しさがぬぐえなくてね

ああ。ソメちゃんとは桜が咲いているあいだだけ出会える、
という設定にする予定だからな

なるほど……

（もし僕が、その桜の精だったら……）

KAITO

ソメちゃんもまた少女に会いたいと思っていると思うし、
ただ待っているだけじゃないほうが、いいかもしれないね

たとえば……次の春はその少女のために
もっと綺麗に咲けるように
いっぱい元気をためておく、とか

少女が寂しくないように少しでも長く、
花を咲かせておけるようにする、とか
