Hatsune Miku (初音 ミク Hatsune Miku) is a virtual singer. She assists in all the existing units.

Background[edit | edit source]

Miku is the main character in Project SEKAI. She is a female virtual singer known for her blue-green pigtail hairstyle. She can sing in a wide variety of genres with her cheerful and cute voice. Among virtual singers, her name is known throughout the world, and through many generations.

She lives in another world called Sekai, and appears in the real world, along with her fellow virtual singers, to consult people who have trouble understanding their true feelings.

In Leo/need's Sekai, she is a guitar playing student, who, with Luka, helps the group's members reconcile.

In MORE MORE JUMP!'s Sekai Miku is an idol alongside Rin, and guides the idol group into realizing their true feelings as idols.

In Vivid BAD SQUAD's Sekai, she and DJ Len help MEIKO run her café. She advises the group whilst also organising her own events alongside the other Street Sekai virtual singers.

In Wonderlands×Showtime's Sekai she works with Troupe Leader KAITO and puts on extravagant shows with the group and for the plushie inhabitants of Wonderland Sekai.

In 25-ji, Nightcord de.'s Sekai Miku acts as comfort and a safe space, especially for Mafuyu who initially created Uninhabited Sekai, and spends her time helping the members with their struggles.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Miku's appearance and looks are modeled after her V3 design. She continues to have her signature turquoise pigtails that extend down to her knees and a school uniform-like outfit. She has teal eyes and pigtails that extend down to her knees held with black and red square-shaped ribbons that have become a signature of her design. She wears a collared white sleeveless blouse with teal trimmings and a teal tie with a gray tie clip. She has a red "01 - Hatsune Miku" tattoo on her left shoulder and dark gray translucent separated sleeves with a teal trim that fan out near the wrists. She wears a gray thigh length skirt with teal trim and thigh-high boots, also with teal trims. Her design is mostly inspired by Yamaha synthesizers and keyboards.

Personality[edit | edit source]

School Sekai[edit | edit source]

The Miku of the School Sekai is hard-working and takes her job as a mentor to Leo/need seriously. Even before meeting them, she seeked to improve at the guitar and improve as a senpai so she could best help the members. She is kind, enthusiastic, and helpful.

Stage Sekai[edit | edit source]

The Miku of the Stage Sekai is a bright and cheerful idol who believes that emotions are the key. She often forgoes talking to the members of MORE MORE JUMP! and instead shows them what they truly feel, such as putting on a concert for the members and letting Haruka see the lightsticks. She still takes mentoring quite seriously, and is always there to be a model idol with seasoned advice.

Street Sekai[edit | edit source]

The MIku of the Street Sekai is cool and laid-back. She helps MEIKO with the Crase Cafe, but often disappears on her own business, leaving MEIKO and Len to wait for the members of Vivid BAD SQUAD to visit. She's always there to provide a sound piece of advice to the members when they need it.

Wonderland Sekai[edit | edit source]

The MIku of the Wonderland Sekai is loud and chaotic. She's excitable and impulsive, often getting herself and others involved in dangerous situations for the fun of it. She's also quite irresponsible and loves playing pranks, regularly hiding from KAITO and scaring Tsukasa. She takes after Emu, shouting loudly without regard for anyone else's eardrums and speaking with a lot of onomatopoeia to best express herself.

Uninhabited Sekai[edit | edit source]

The MIku of the Uninhabited Sekai is sad and quiet. She speaks formally and is very withdrawn, but isn't afraid to advocate for Mafuyu's needs, often trying to help the other members of Nightcord to reach out to and connect with Mafuyu. She often grows bored in the emptiness of the Uninhabited Sekai, and asks and learns from the members to find ways to pass the time alone.

Relationships[edit | edit source]

School Sekai[edit | edit source]

  • Kagamine Rin: Rin is very excitable with Miku, nicknaming her Miku-P thinking it's a very cute name, which is similar to many vocaloid creator's music names. Miku doesn't like it that much at first but eventually gets used to it. Miku takes on a sort of teasing personality towards Rin, complimenting her for playing an air guitar once while Rin looks up to Miku and wants to help everyone just like her and Luka do.
  • Kagamine Len: A fellow classmate in School Sekai.
  • Megurine Luka: Miku often tries to imitate Luka's mature personality due to finding her cool, wanting to be a good senpai to the others just like she is. Luka always finds Miku wanting to help her and join her in activities, which she happily agrees to when they catch each other in time, such as cleaning the classrooms, also being able to teach her things during conversation such as how to play instruments or just flower types. They both act as equal like relationships to the members of Leo/need. Luka often teases Miku, who is prone to embarrassment.
  • MEIKO: Despite Miku being more of the junior, MEIKO relies on Miku a lot to explain things to do with the SEKAI to her, and also loves to tease her similarly to Luka. MEIKO also supports Miku in figuring out what to do for the girls and commends her for believing in them that much, while Miku thanks her for all her encouragement.
  • KAITO: Miku initially teased him for his shyness upon his arrival, but has seemingly eased up on him by the the event That day, the Sky was Far Away. During his 2022 Birthday Celebration, Miku was the one who coaxed KAITO out of his hiding place so that he could attend his party with the members of Leo/need. They enjoy playing together, and KAITO is able to recognize her love for the members of Leo/need, especially Ichika, which is often their point of interest while talking.
  • Hoshino Ichika: Ever since she was little, Ichika has always loved and adored Miku. She often goes to her for advice and takes her words to heart. Ichika has also bought Miku's voicebank at the end of Live with Memories, and started composing music using it.
  • Tenma Saki: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.
  • Mochizuki Honami: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.
  • Hinomori Shiho: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.

Stage Sekai[edit | edit source]

  • Kagamine Rin: Miku and Rin are idol partners who have performed over 100 times together, coming up with new show ideas whenever they see something, or asking others for advice. They have great synergy when doing shows and are able to sort out each other's problems and concerns. Miku knows Rin for never giving up and tries to keep up that mindset for herself. Rin appreciates Miku for giving her live advice and praise and practicing their dance routines together, though sometimes she feels like she isn't able to keep up.
  • Kagamine Len: A fellow idol in Stage SEKAI.
  • Megurine Luka: Miku had been waiting for Luka to arrive so she could do shows with her and Rin, which Luka wants to perform as much as she can with Miku. Miku thinks Luka is a great teacher and student, while Luka likes to occasionally tease Miku in things such as being unable to dismantle props or not being as scared as her during theme park rides.
  • MEIKO: Miku praises MEIKO for her ability to do her shows by herself, her knowledge on audience interaction and her style and theme in the shows, wanting to do just as good as her for her shows. MEIKO often gives her pointers and offers to help her with some dance routines, which Miku happily agrees.
  • KAITO: Miku appears to respect KAITO a lot, calling him a genius, as she has occasionally sought out his advice. KAITO is happy to help her out, having the perfect knowledge on what would look good on her and what would be good for her shows, whether solo or as a team with someone. He also praises her for her drawings of potential costumes.
  • Hanasato Minori: VIRTUAL SINGER and fellow idol. It was Miku's words that inspired Minori to give it her all as an idol, and subsequently rescue Haruka from the doubts that held her back.
  • Kiritani Haruka: VIRTUAL SINGER and fellow idol.
  • Momoi Airi: VIRTUAL SINGER and fellow idol.
  • Hinomori Shizuku: VIRTUAL SINGER and fellow idol.

Street Sekai[edit | edit source]

  • Kagamine Rin: The two share the same interest of helping out at MEIKO's cafe, enjoying talking with the customers there. Rin comes to Miku sometimes for advice, such as resolving fights with Len.
  • Kagamine Len: Miku behaves like an older sibling to Len, who Len claims is always leaving him behind. She still cares for him despite the amount of distance she puts between them and watches over from afar because she believes that he can grow on his own.
  • Megurine Luka: Luka thinks Miku has a way with words, with someone of them being touching to the members of Vivid BAD SQUAD, feeling like the way she would have said her words would have come out completely different. Miku doesn't take a lot of her praise seriously, thinking she's trying to have fun with it or just has another idea.
  • MEIKO: Miku often helps MEIKO at her cafe, much to the latter's both happiness and worry, due to Miku's lack of cooking skills. Though MEIKO is very patient with letting her learn and tries to be gentle and encouraging despite panicking in her thoughts. Miku thinks she learns a lot off MEIKO this way.
  • KAITO: Miku has gotten used to KAITO's carefree tendencies, as when questioned by Akito on if KAITO is always "like that", Miku responds with "like what?" Compared to the other VIRTUAL SINGERS, Miku is also less likely to get exasperated with KAITO for his behavior, and she doesn’t often engage in making jokes at his expense. She also tends to give him taste tests of her and MEIKO's cooking, which KAITO is a fan of, but not when it gets a bit too much.
  • Azusawa Kohane: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.
  • Shiraishi An: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.
  • Shinonome Akito: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.
  • Aoyagi Toya: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.

Wonderland Sekai[edit | edit source]

  • Kagamine Rin: Rin thinks Miku is amazing in the way she is able to do her stunts, and tries to copy her, which Miku is happy to be a great teacher to. The two bicker every now and then, such as fighting to take KAITO's position of troupe leader or telling the other to be quiet (while being even louder) but enjoy their shows together and try to cheer up the other if they see the other down.
  • Kagamine Len: A fellow performer in Wonderland SEKAI.
  • Megurine Luka: Luka sometimes helps Miku with her stunts, wanting to try them herself after she sees them succeed. Miku also supports Luka's aims to fall asleep when they're not getting ready for a show or seeing others, finding her smiling to be funny, and sometimes joins her in this.
  • MEIKO: Miku and MEIKO love coming up with show and stunt ideas together, sometimes going to KAITO for advice and/or permission on how to do them together, using more passionate language while talking to him, much to his confusion. Though other times, the two secretly perform dangerous stunts that they know KAITO would disprove of such as launching through the clouds, though KAITO finds out eventually.
  • KAITO: KAITO acts as a guiding figure to Miku in addition to being her partner in running their theater troupe. Because of this, the pair appear to be quite close to each other. As well, despite her antics and tendency to involve an often unwilling KAITO in them, Miku appears to respect KAITO and relieves him of his troupe leader duties when he overworks himself.
  • Tenma Tsukasa: Tsukasa views Miku similarly to Emu; loud, obnoxious, and confusing. Like everybody she sees, Miku is excited whenever Tsukasa visits the Wonderland SEKAI, often running up and pouncing on him when she sees him. She and KAITO helped Tsukasa realize his true feelings and why he initially wanted to become a star.
  • Otori Emu: Emu and Miku are a lot alike — both full of energy, life, onomatopoeias, and utter chaos. Emu loves the Wonderland SEKAI and Miku loves it when Emu comes to visit. They often end up in some sort of shenanigans, once almost falling off the Wonderland SEKAI's flying train.
  • Kusanagi Nene: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend. She understands Nene's difficulty communicating.
  • Kamishiro Rui: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.

Uninhabited Sekai[edit | edit source]

  • Kagamine Rin: The two have a good relationship, Miku being happy Rin arrived so the SEKAI wouldn't be as lonely without the members of Nightcord, thinking her and the other's presence is comforting. Rin is blunt with Miku sometimes, but also enjoys her presence. The two share the same early worry about the members, which Miku tries to cheer Rin up with it with games.
  • Kagamine Len: In the Empty SEKAI, Miku is very close to Len, behaving like a caring older sister to him despite her also being quite childlike in personality herself. Len often hides behind her when he’s afraid.
  • Megurine Luka: Luka finds Miku's habit of showing everything she gets from the members of Nightcord to all the Virtual Singers adorable, though also making some fun of her worry for them, saying Miku would cry if Kanade collapsed again. She also respects and appreciates Miku's will to help all of them, especially Mafuyu. Miku is thankful for Luka being the ones that keep everyone in one place so they can spend some time together and coming up with new activities in the SEKAI.
  • MEIKO: Miku is confused by MEIKO's decision of keeping a distance, but doesn't stop her, though consistently asks if this is what she wants and how she thinks this will help the girls, worrying about her sometimes. MEIKO keeps their conversations short in this manner, though she also finds her sweet in a way and doesn't decline speaking about other things with her.
  • KAITO: Miku is confused by KAITO and wonders why he's so angry all the time. KAITO critics her for her thinking Mafuyu is making progress where the progress is way too slow for his standards. They are shown to be on good terms though outside from this, especially after Saying Goodbye to My Masked Self took place, where they worked together to assist Mafuyu who was talking to her mother, both using their harsh truth and comfort to help.
  • Yoisaki Kanade: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.
  • Asahina Mafuyu: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend. Having formed from Mafuyu's feelings, she understands Mafuyu's struggles and pain and always did her best to comfort her or watch her compose songs when Mafuyu would come to Empty SEKAI to vent or wanted to be all alone.
  • Shinonome Ena: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.
  • Akiyama Mizuki: VIRTUAL SINGER and friend.
