"A top-level street music unit that formed to surpass the legends."
―Profile

Vivid BAD SQUAD is a unit of street musicians.

Background[edit | edit source]

One day, Azusawa Kohane stumbles upon a jam session being hosted by Shiraishi An and her friends. Captivated by their music, Kohane decides to become a street musician as well.

History[edit | edit source]

Vivid BAD SQUAD was formed of two established duos: BAD DOGS (consisting of Shinonome Akito and Aoyagi Toya) and Vivids (consisting of Azusawa Kohane and Shirashi An). The group began singing cover songs, with Akito and An occasionally writing for the group.[1]

The group made their debut in the live houses of Vivid Street, aiming to surpass the legendary event RAD WEEKEND.[2]

The group was already locally known thanks to its members, but Vivid BAD SQUAD began to make a name for themselves at the local competitive event STAY GOLD, where they won the second time they entered.[3]

After BAD DOGS perform at a summer festival, Vivid BAD SQUAD began occasionally including choreography in their performances.[4]

Vivid BAD SQUAD started organizing their own performance events in THE POWER OF UNITY event story. Together with Touno Arata, Mita Kotaro, and Okazaki Tatsuya and his group, EVER, the group hosted their first event "Break".[5]

Toya made his first musical contribution to the group for their second event "JET", composing an original song with lyrics by An.[6]

The group hosted their third event "RISE" at the prestigious live house Crawl Green, notorious for its intense vetting process and high skill bar.[7]

After a public song battle and defeat by the hands of professional musician Kotaki Taiga[8], Vivid BAD SQUAD became inactive in the Vivid Street area, instead performing outside Shibuya. During this time, professional musician Shiraishi Ken became the group's mentor. Toya also became the group's official composer, writing all the tracks the group sings.[9]

Vivid BAD SQUAD made their return to Vivid Street with RAD BLAST, an event promised to surpass RAD WEEKEND.[10]

Music[edit | edit source]

The music designated to Vivid BAD SQUAD in-game is usually upbeat and danceable with elements of EDM, hip-hop, and pop. Their dance performances in live shows and 3D MVs are tightly choreographed, similar in style to modern K-pop performances, and draw inspiration from hip-hop.

In-universe, Akito and An, later joined by Toya, collaborate to produce original music to be performed at live shows. This is initially revealed in the Walk on and on event story, and expanded upon in An's Nuanced Language side story. All four members provide vocals for Vivid BAD SQUAD's performances.

Sekai[edit | edit source]

Street Sekai is Vivid BAD SQUAD sekai. It is accessible via the song "Ready Steady".

Kohane, An, Akito, Toya, Miku, Rin, Len, Luka, MEIKO, and KAITO have conversations here. Additionally, area items that increase the power of Vivid BAD SQUAD and VIRTUAL SINGER cards can be found here.

The Sekai consists of a seemingly unending maze of streets. Amongst the streets is Crase Cafe, owned and run by MEIKO. Kagamine Len and Hatsune Miku often visit and help run the cafe.
