Leo/need is an all-female band consisting of childhood friends.

Background[edit | edit source]

The members of Leo/need were once childhood friends. However, a certain incident occurred during middle school and their relationship became strained.

One day Hoshino Ichika discovers a song named "Untitled" on her phone. Upon playing it, she is transported to Sekai. There she meets Hatsune Miku who welcomes her to Sekai and invites her to sing together.

Sekai[edit | edit source]

Classroom Sekai is Leo/need's sekai.
It is accessible via the song "NeedLe".

Ichika, Saki, Honami, Shiho, Miku, Rin, Len, Luka, MEIKO, and KAITO have conversations here. Additionally, area items that increase the power of Leo/need and VIRTUAL SINGER cards can be found here.

The Sekai is modelled after a Japanese school, with the main area being a classroom.

Music[edit | edit source]

The music designated to Leo/need in-game leans toward the J-rock genre, and uses the band's instruments of electric guitar, electric bass, acoustic drums, and synthesizer or piano. The members do not dance in live shows and 3D MVs, instead playing their instruments.

In-universe, the Ichika and Saki collaborate to produce their own music for performing at live shows. Ichika writes lyrics, while Saki composes. Ichika is the lead vocalist of Leo/need, with the other three members providing backing vocals or occasionally being featured as a lead vocal.

Leo/need is named after the Leonids, a meteor shower that happens in the radiant of the constellation Leo.
- Leo is also the star sign of the guitarist, Ichika Hoshino.
The "need" in Leo/need represents how all members of the group are needed.
The / in Leo/need represents a shooting star.
In the Project Sekai game files Leo/need is referred to as "light sound".
Leo/need is the only group with a designated lead vocalist, with all other units having all members regularly sing.
Leo/need is the only unit that doesn't dance in live shows of 3D MVs.
The School Sekai is the only Sekai to visibly change over the course of the story, shifting from sunset to sunrise.
Each member of Leo/need has a reference to celestial objects in their name.
