"An underground music circle that gets active at 1:00 AM (25:00), and whose identities are shrouded in mystery."
― Profile

25-ji, Nightcord de. is an underground music circle.

Background[edit | edit source]

The circle was created by Yoisaki Kanade, who recruited all the other members. The group communicates with each other over a voice chat tool named 'Nightcord'. They originally met each other online, but occasionally meet up in person.

One day, Kanade loses contact with one of her circle members.

History[edit | edit source]

25-ji, Nightcord de. was formed by composer Yoisaki Kanade, who formed a partnership with Asahina Mafuyu after seeing her arrangement of one of her pieces. Mafuyu became Kanade's arranger and mixer.

Kanade invited two more artists, Shinonome Ena and Akiyama Mizuki, to join the group after they collaborated on a music video for one of Kanade's pieces. Ena became the group's illustrator, and Mizuki the group's video editor. The group operated entirely online, with each member retaining anonymity.

The members of Nightcord met each other in person when Mafuyu went missing, and Kanade, Ena, and Mizuki travelled to the Uninhabited Sekai to find her.[1] From then on, the group occasionally meets in person.

Nightcord saw moderate success online, but started gaining noticeable attention with their release Marionette, reaching 200k views in one day.[2]

Music[edit | edit source]

The music designated to Nightcord in-game is usually downtempo, and darker in sound and subject matter in comparison to the other units. Their dance performances in live shows and 3D MVs are simplistic and story-driven.

In-universe, the four members collaborate to produce their own music for release online. Kanade composes Nightcord's music, Mafuyu writes lyrics and mixes the music, Ena provides illustrations for the release, and Mizuki animates and edits the music video. All four members provide vocals for Nightcord's releases, as suggested in an area conversation between Miku, Mizuki, and Kanade.

Sekai[edit | edit source]

Uninhabited Sekai is 25-ji, Nightcord de.'s Sekai, created by Mafuyu's true feelings.
It is accessible via the song "Kuyamu to Kaite Mirai".

Kanade, Mafuyu, Ena, Mizuki, Miku, Rin, Len, Luka, MEIKO and KAITO have conversations here. Additionally, area items that increase the power of 25-ji, Nightcord de. and VIRTUAL SINGER cards can be found here.

The Uninhabited Sekai is a barren world with nothing but a few dim rays of light.
Miku wanders the endless landscape alone, singing into the void.
